Hello all,

I do not know if I am the only one with this feeling, but what was Nokia thinking when they decided to put the shutter release button only on the side of the phone and not leave the central key as a shutter release as well.

When I asked Nokia people about this, they said it is not possible to reprogram (for us) the central button and only the side button could be used as shutter release.

Very often when i take a pic, certainly if it is a self pic (which I do very often), I have to hold my hand in a very strange position in order to be able to push the button.  Problem then is it to push it without shaking the phone too much, as the button is not located in the centre of anything...

Anybody else has any feelings about this?

locr ist in eine völlig neue Art, Fotos anhand von Ortsinformationen zu organisieren. Damit können:

1. Fotos viel einfacher wiedergefunden werden. So bleibt selbst bei riesigen Fotosammlungen der Überblick erhalten.
2. Basierend auf den Ortsinformationen werden zu jedem Foto automatisch Beschreibungen erzeugt.
3. Fotos können auch mit Freunden und Bekannten geteilt werden.

Grundlage für locr sind Fotos mit Geotags. Ein Geotag liefert die Info über die Position, an der das Foto gemacht wurde. Geotags können entweder manuell definiert werden oder automatisch per GPS. Und somit bestens fürs N95 geeignet!   http://www.locr.com

Ey guys and girls,

This is actually a comment on the other post with the same title. For some reason or another i am unable to click on post comment within that article... Others work fine... Strange...

Anyway, wanted to say something about GPS in general.  There are two signals that are sent out by the GPS satellites.  The first and main signal is accessible by all, civil and military alike.  But the 2nd signal is only accessible by the military (US off course...).  And as u can guess, it is the 2nd signal that makes the difference between good and poor accuracy.  With that 2nd signal the US is capable of pinpointing their position to within the meter or so.

Poor civil people like us who have only access to the first signal (which is accurate for about 100m only) had to come up with another means of making the GPS more accurate.  I do not know what landlobbers call it, but at sea we call it DGPS, differential GPS.  I guess there are many different versions of this... I am only familiar with DGPS.  What it does is that it 'talks' to fixed land stations.  It asks their correct position and the position received by the GPS satellites.  The difference between the two signals can then be used to correct the position of the ship at sea...  Off course this only works when the vessel is not to far away from land.  But who cares about 100m accuracy of a 200m long vessel at open ocean...

Dunno if I make much sense in my explanation, but hope u can see what I mean...  I guess Garmin and the N95 use similar systems to make the GPS signal more accurate?

Ich bin überzeugt, dass das N95 überdurchschnittlich lange mein Standard-Handy bleiben wird. Ich begrüsse es, wenn das Expertenteam weiterhin blogt und Erfahrungen austauscht und am Puls der N95-Fangemeinde bleibt.

Falls dieses Bild echt ist, bringt Nokia das N95 mit einem acht Gigabyte grossen Speicher. Das "grosse" N95 kommt offenbar in schwarz daher und soll sonst mit der bisherigen Version baugleich sein.

Spekulation: Kein GPS?
Die normale N95-Version verfügt nur über 160 Megabyte internen Speicher, der mit Speicherkarten erweiterbar ist. Käufer sollen für den erweiterten Speicher im Gegenzug auf den GPS-Empfänger verzichten müssen; das Handy soll als "N95 Music Edition" im schwarzen Gehäuse auf den den Markt kommen.

Für alle, die nicht mit der Original-Software von Nokia arbeiten wollen, gibt es Nav4all - eine Navigations-Lösung die den internen GPS-Empfänger des N95 unterstützt und wirklich kostenlos ist.
